NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Nearly 30 people were shot as a result of gunfire across New York City during the holiday weekend, authorities said.
According to police on Monday, 13 victims including a 19-year-old girl, a 22-year-old man, and a 33-year-old man were injured in 12 separate shootings that occurred in the city on the 4th of July.
There were a total of 26 people shot between midnight on Friday morning and midnight Monday morning, the NYPD said.
At around 11:30 p.m. on. Sunday, a 19-year-old girl was shot in the chest at Edgecombe Avenue, near West 150th Street in Harlem street, police said.
The victim's boyfriend told police that the gunman, dressed all in black approached them before he opened fire, and fled the scene.
The teen was rushed to an area hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The NYPD is investigating the shooting which appeared to be targeted, police said.
It is unclear if the victim or her boyfriend was the intended target.
Two men were fatally shot in separate incidents in the Bronx on Sunday, authorities said.
At around 4:10 a.m., two men were shot on East 172nd Street near Crotona Park East according to officials.
Responding officers discovered a 27-year-old man who was shot in the buttocks and 22-year-old Mamadou Bah who was repeatedly shot in the torso and arm, police said.
The victims were taken to a local hospital where Bah was pronounced dead, officials said.
The 27-year-old victim was listed in stable condition.
Just before 10 p.m. officials found 33-year-old Rikona Kirby with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and head outside of a building at the Castle Hill Houses NYCHA complex on Lacombe Avenue.
Kirby was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing as police continue searching for suspects in the Harlem and Bronx shootings.
