OCEAN CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey man was charged with decapitating his mother after he was found by police naked and covered in blood last week, according to court documents.
Jeffrey Surgent, 46, was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
According to court documents, Jeffrey called 911 about 4 p.m. on Friday to report he suffered mental health issues and had just killed his mother,
Upon arrival at Jeffrey Surgent’s apartment located on 6th Street in Ocean City, police found him in a hallway outside the apartment, lying nude on top of the headless body.
Officials identified the victim as Surgent’s mother, 74-year-old Alexandri Surgent.
Her head was found a few feet away in the hallway, according to the affidavit.
Investigators seized a weapon and a cellphone from the scene.
Police took Jeffrey Surgent into custody, who began repeatedly yelling that he had killed his mother and was sorry, the affidavit said.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said he was taken to a medical facility and was being held in the Cape May County Jail.
