NEW YORK (BLOOMBERG) -- New Jersey officials are seeking to reduce the $150 roundtrip World Cup ticket to ride New Jersey Transit to the matches at MetLife Stadium after widespread backlash from fans and lawmakers.

Governor Mikie Sherrill has directed NJTransit to find other funding sources to cover the additional costs of carrying 40,000 fans to each game.

The transit authority is looking to lower the roundtrip price from New York’s Penn Station to MetLife stadium to $105, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions. The ride typically costs about $13.
