NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- North Korea didn't hold back taking aim at the U.S. and its allies at the United Nations General Assembly Monday, slamming war games taking place in the region.

The country's U.N. Ambassador, Kim Song, told world leaders on the final day of the gathering, that the U.S. is "stirring up military confrontations" by taking part in war games and "talking unceasingly" about a change of regime in the hermit kingdom.

Kim said, "They are stirring up military confrontations still further,” Kim said, accusing the Biden administration of hypocrisy. "Who has developed and used nuclear weapons for the first time in human history? ... Who is talking unceasingly about the end of a regime of a sovereign state?"

Kim's ire wasn't isolated to the U.S. and its allies, though. He also slammed the body at which he was speaking.

"The United Nations is misused for the political aims of an individual country," he said. "Such realities should no longer be tolerated and allowed."

There was only one U.S. representative in the hall when Kim spoke. Following his address -- on a day during which leaders from Canada and United Arab Emirates spoke -- the U.S. State Department said in a statement, "There are a number of valuable discussions we seek to have with the DPRK, including on reducing the risk of inadvertent military conflict on the peninsula ... we have seen a marked increase in the scope and scale of DPRK provocations, which have only served to raise regional tensions and increase the risk of accident or unintentional escalation."

The State Department also downplayed the war games, saying they were "routine and defensive in nature."
