NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The New York Urban League and Audacy, Inc. -- the corporate parent of 1010 WINS, WCBS 880, 94.7 The Block, WFAN, and other stations in NYC and nationwide -- teamed up this year for the inaugural NYUL Diversity Leadership Summit.

At the summit, held last Thursday at the Hard Rock Hotel near Times Square, leadership from the NYUL, Audacy and other organizations spoke on panels about the business case for diversity. Audacy's coordinator for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Sharon Barnes-Waters, worked with the NYUL on organizing the summit.

Presented were case studies that "demonstrate the positive impact of inclusive leadership on business performance, and provide practical strategies for organizations to cultivate inclusive leadership practices for sustainable success in today's diverse and dynamic business environment," according to the NYUL.

The panels at the summit were "Business and Human Case For Inclusive Leadership," moderated by NYUL CEO and president Arva Rice, and "Internal and External Benefits of Partnership," moderated by NYUL's Diversity & Inclusion Lab Program Manager Sandra Garcia. Also moderating was 94.7 The Block's Pat Robinson.

Ben Mevorach, Audacy's Vice President of New York News, spoke during the first panel about the importance of having a staff of varying backgrounds, and having that staff be a voice in coverage of stories and communities that stations like 1010 WINS and WCBS 880 cover. He cited 1010 WINS' special coverage of Pride in 2019, pegged to the 50th annniversary of the Stonewall riots. Ivan Lee, the Brand Manager for 1010 WINS and WCBS 880 also attended, as did Spike Eskin, VP of programming for WFAN and CBS Sports Radio.

During the second panel, 94.7 The Block Assistant Program Manager André Yancey spoke about the importance of having diverse viewpoints in an organization, and bringing one's own identity into the workplace to foster an inclusive environment.

Closing out the summit was 92.7 The Block Brand Manager Skip Dillard and Chris Oliviero, President of the New York Market at Audacy, who spoke about the importance of empowering those entering the workforce and in the earlier stages of their career to contribute to diversifying the workforce.
