NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A city bus driver struck and critically injured a 24-year-old woman in Queens on Friday morning, police said.
The victim was found lying on the pavement with traumatic injuries after she was hit around 5:15 a.m. at Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue in Maspeth.
Police believe the woman was crossing the street when the operator of a Q39 bus made a right turn onto Eliot Avenue and struck her.
She was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she remained in critical condition.
The bus operator stayed at the scene. No charged have been filed.
The incident led to some buses being temporarily detoured in the area, the MTA said.
Earlier this week in the Bronx, a 62-year-old man was struck and critically injured by a city bus driver who kept driving, police said.
