NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Though New York City drivers coughed up nearly $260 million in parking tickets from October 2020 to this September — twice lower than pre-COVID times — a new study is hoping to help further decrease that number by pointing out areas in the city where drivers are more likely to get ticketed.

According to the study by SpotAngels, Manhattan's Kips Bay and Battery Park City are the likeliest places where drivers will receive a ticket, with over 12 parking tickets per 100 spots.

Gramercy, Stuyvesant Town and Tribeca round out the top five in Manhattan, whereas the Flatiron District is the least likeliest spot to get ticketed with 4.4 parking tickets per 100 spots.

In Brooklyn, the study found Brooklyn Navy Yard takes the lead because there are few spots with parking restrictions, yet Downtown Brooklyn is where a driver is most likely to get a ticket, with over 11 parking tickets per 100 spots.

Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO follow, respectively, as Brooklyn's top five spots.

However, Greenwood Heights, Manhattan Beach and Coney Island are the locations where a driver is less likely to get ticketed.

Midtown Manhattan drivers faced the most tickets with $13,338,865 from 158,032 tickets, while Williamsburg, Brooklyn drivers had the most in the borough with $1,746,065 from 26,285 tickets.

Here is SpotAngels' top five list of the most-ticketed parking spots in NYC:
