NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- New York City will give away 10,000 free tickets with a "front row seat" to next week's Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks, Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday.
While the fireworks will be visible for free all along the West Side Highway, the free tickets will provide access to prime viewing areas at Pier 45 or Pier 84 in Hudson River Park.
The complimentary tickets will go live at nycjuly4.com on Wednesday, June 26, at 10 a.m.
The tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Each member of the public will be limited to two tickets.
“While all New Yorkers will be able to take part in the illumination of our sky at the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, our administration is making sure that 10,000 lucky New Yorkers have an opportunity to enjoy the show with a front row seat,” Adams said in a statement.
“We’re making sure everyone has a fair shot at attending one of the city’s most exciting and iconic events," the mayor said.
The 48th annual Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks are returning to the Hudson River for the first time in more than a decade. Thousands of shells will be fired from barges in the Hudson.
1010 WINS is the official radio station of the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks and the only place to hear the live musical score as you watch in person.
If you don't nab free tickets, there will still be plenty of places to see the big show. Entry points for the general public are:
• Christopher Street and Washington Street
• West 11th Street and Washington Street
• West 12th Street and Washington Street
• West 29th Street and 11th Avenue
• West 40th Street and 11th Avenue
• ADA accessible viewing locations will be located at Christopher Street and Washington Street and West 41st Street and 11th Avenue.
