
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Millions of people are set to take part in NYC Pride events this weekend. Here's what to know as the city celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community.
The weekend includes the annual NYC Pride March, one of the largest LGBTQIA+ civil rights demonstrations in the world, as well as the PrideFest street fair and the Youth Pride celebration. The events are free and open to the public.

What NYC Pride events are this weekend?
The NYC Pride March kicks off at 12 p.m. Sunday. It begins at Fifth Avenue and 26th Street and runs to 15th Street Seventh Avenue.
The PrideFest street fair is at 11 a.m. Sunday on Fourth Avenue, from 14th Street to Astor Place.
Youth Pride is 12 p.m. Saturday at the South Street Seaport Museum at Pier 16 and The Seaport at Pier 17.

What is this year’s theme and who are the grand marshals?
This year’s theme is “Rise Up: Pride in Protest,” with spectators, supporters and allies set to “reflect on the Pride movement’s origins in protest and march in defiant celebration, advocacy, and solidarity.”
This year’s grand marshals include Karine Jean-Pierre, the nation's first Black and openly queer press secretary; Marti Gould Cummings, a drag artist and activist; DJ Lina, a disc jockey and advocate for Black trans women; Elisa Crespo, the first trans woman of color to run for public office in the Bronx; and Trans formative Schools, a nonprofit that provides affirming after-school programs and services for NYC's trans and non-binary youth.

According to AccuWeather, Saturday will be humid and warm with a high of 83 degrees. It will be partly cloudy, with storms around in the afternoon and evening that may produce damaging winds and flash flooding.
Sunday will be the better of the two weekend days. The humidity will be lower, and it will otherwise be sunny and warm with a high of 87 for the Pride March.
