NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – New York was ranked the most challenging city to drive in, especially for delivery workers, according to a new study.

Scoring nearly 90 out of 100, New York City tops the list as the worst city for driving due to extensive rush hour delays and high fuel costs, the Circuit study found.

New York City also earned the title of worst city for driving and worst city for delivery drivers in 2023. With high employment rates, intense traffic congestion, time spent in rush hour, and slow last-mile speeds still made it the worst of all 80 cities.

The city also ranks poorly for last mile speed, tied with Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.

The study also found that drivers in New York City spend 236 hours per year in rush hour traffic, far surpassing other cities in this metric.

New York's severe traffic conditions also places the city at the top.

Following New York is Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston as the most challenging cities.
