NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Health officials on Friday released the annual list of the top baby names in New York, and the data shows the number one names continuing their years-long streak, as other names made major moves up the list for the first time.
Liam was the most popular name for boys, while Emma was the most popular name for girls for 2023, the latest year for which data is available, according to the city Department of Health.
Liam has snagged the top spot for boys since 2016, while Emma has topped the list for girls since 2017, officials said. Noah and Mia were the second favorites among New Yorkers for boys and girls, respectively.
NYC birth certificates show 382 Emmas and 743 Liams were born across the city in 2023, when a total of 98,389 babies made their “Big Apple entrance,” officials said.
