NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A scooter-riding man who fatally shot an 86-year-old man and wounded three others in an apparently random attack earlier this month was indicted Wednesday morning, according to the Queens County District Attorney.

Surveillance footage appears to show Thomas Abreu, from Brooklyn, firing at random pedestrians in Queens' Richmond Hill neighborhood on July 8, killing Hamod Saeidi in the process. Saeidi's son said that his father was walking to a mosque to pray.

“The scourge of gun violence continues to steal family, friends, and loved ones from our communities," D.A. Melinda Katz said of the rampage, which included six crime scenes across Brooklyn and Queens.

Abreu, 25, was charged with second-degree murder, five counts of second-degree attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

After police discovered ammunition in his pistol and fanny pack, Abreu reportedly told them that he thought Russians, Chinese, and Europeans were out to get him. He was arraigned last Monday in Queens Criminal Court.
