NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Sixteen New York City nursing homes have a staff COVID-19 vaccination rate of less than 50% — and nearly a third of staffers at nursing homes across the five boroughs are not vaccinated, according to a new report.

New York State Health Department records reviewed by the New York Post showed the low vaccination rates among New York City nursing home workers.

Linden Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brooklyn had the lowest rates in the city, with only 33% of staffers vaccinated, the outlet reported.

"Those low vaccination rates for nursing home staff are absolutely insane," Assemblyman Ron Kim, the chair of the State Assembly's Aging Committee, told the outlet. "They had access to the vaccine before any of us."

"There should be a requirement for anybody working in these facilities to be vaccinated," he added.
