NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 31-year-old New York City teacher was arrested Thursday morning after a former student accused him of touching her legs and stomach in 2017.
Cops said the incident was reported by the now-19-year-old woman. The name and location of the school have not been publicly made available at this time.
Steven Perez was arrested at 11:19 a.m. in Brooklyn and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child and harassment.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Department of Education said Thursday that Perez was reassigned from the school as the department takes "the necessary procedures" to terminate him.
"The safety of our students is our top priority and we are cooperating fully with the police department to assist with the investigation," the spokesperson added.
