NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A private sanitation truck driver plowed into a car and building scaffolding in East Harlem on Tuesday morning, killing a woman, police said.

According to the NYPD, it happened at approximately 6:27 a.m. near the intersection of First Avenue and East 101st Street.

The driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle and first collided with an unoccupied, parked Kia Forte, authorities said.

The truck—still attached to the car—then careened into the structural scaffolding surrounding 345 East 101st St., causing the heavy framework to collapse entirely onto the sidewalk where the woman was.

Emergency responders discovered an unidentified woman trapped beneath the debris of the fallen scaffolding. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 50-year-old passenger in the truck was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Three others sustained minor injuries.
