NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 50-year-old NYPD officer was arrested for possession of child pornography Tuesday, the Suffolk County Police Department announced Wednesday.
SCPD officers arrested Steven Marksberry, an officer at the 52nd Precinct in the Bronx, at his home in Lake Grove.
He was charged with possession of a sexual act by a child, but officials did not go into further detail about the nature of his alleged crime.
He has since been released on his own recognizance. His next court date is scheduled for July 10.
The NYPD told 1010 WINS Marksberry was suspended without pay following his arrest.
He has been working for the NYPD since July 2008, and he made $140,000 last year.
Marksberry has been named in five lawsuits in which the city reached settlements for $100,000 total, according to 50-a.org, a website that documents NYPD misconduct complaints.
He has also been accused of misconduct three times across two complaints for inappropriate use of physical force and offensive language. The Civilian Complaint Review Board found two of those complaints unsubstantiated, and a third could not be resolved.
