The texts 35-year-old Josue Torres sent violated an active order of protection for his 38-year-old former girlfriend, according to officials.
He faces contempt charges for violating the order and aggravated harassment offenses for the messages.
Torres was arrested in the 73rd Precinct, which covers Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood.
Torres joined the force in 2015, according to Civilian Complaint Review Board records.
During his time with the NYPD, he’s been accused of four allegations of misconduct, two of which were substantiated by the CCRB.
One of the other allegations could not be exonerated or substantiated, and the alleged victim reportedly refused to cooperate with the CCRB for the other.
