NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police were searching Monday for two people who abandoned the bruised and battered body of a 3-year-old boy at a Brooklyn hospital.

The boy was pronounced dead at SUNY Downstate University Hospital in East Flatbush after a man and woman dropped him off there shortly before noon on Sunday.

The boy was suffering from bruising and wasn’t breathing when the woman got out of a car and left him in front of the hospital on Clarkson Avenue.

The woman then returned to the car, and she and the man sped off, police said.

Their relationship to the boy wasn’t immediately known.

The medical examiner is working to determine how the boy died.

Police are trying to identify the child and find the pair who left him.
