NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An NYPD officer has been arrested for allegedly requesting and receiving sexually explicit videos and photos from an underage girl, according to a law enforcement source and a report.
Officer Carmine Simpson is set to be charged with production of child pornography Thursday afternoon, a law enforcement source said, without immediately providing additional information.
The Daily News reported that an underage girl sent Simpson explicit videos and photos after he solicited them.
Simpson, who has been on the force since October 2018, is assigned to Brooklyn's 75th Precinct, which is located in East New York, the law enforcement source said.
The NYPD confirmed Simpson's arrest and said he is currently suspended without pay.
"The allegations in this case are reprehensible," an NYPD spokesperson said in a statement. "The NYPD has zero tolerance for any officer who would endanger children or betray his oath in such a manner."
Simpson's attorney didn't immediately respond to request for comment Thursday afternoon.
