NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Tuesday released video footage of an NYPD officer on horseback chasing down a sunglass thief in Times Square over the weekend.
A 60-year-old vendor near W. 40th Street and Seventh Avenue told the officer on horseback that seven pairs of sunglasses had been stolen around 6:45 p.m. Saturday.
The vendor confronted 34-year-old Ignacio Lewis who allegedly threatened him with a broken piece of glass, police said.
The officer's body camera shows the suspect attempting to flee, running down West 40th Street and the NYPD cop and horse begin to chase him.
Officers on foot eventually caught up with Lewis on the sidewalk where he was arrested.
Lewis is facing charges including robbery, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
