NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An NYPD officer was seriously injured when a precinct garage door fell suddenly, pinning her leg underneath, the department said.

The Community Affairs Bureau officer was walking to a van inside a garage at the 78th Precinct, which serves Park Slope, around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday when a metal gate dropped, pinning her to the ground, the NYPD said.

The woman’s fellow officers were able to lift the gate, the department said. She was taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital conscious and alert, with a serious leg injury.

Police didn’t immediately release the officer’s age or say why the garage door fell. An investigation is ongoing.
