NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two hundred NYPD officers have arrived in Washington, D.C. ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.
The officers left New York City and traveled to D.C. via bus on Monday, the NYPD said.
“This morning, 200 of your officers begin their journey down to the U.S. Capitol, to represent the NYPD and assist with security for Wednesday’s Presidential Inauguration,” the department tweeted on Monday.
A video published by the New York Post on Tuesday showed the NYPD buses arriving in D.C.
Last week, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea told NY1 the department would “happily send members of the force to Washington to stand with, not just law enforcement, [but] with all elected officials, and people celebrating the transfer of power in this country.”
“And it should be, hopefully, a peaceful day that we can look back on one day, and hopefully learn from,” he added.
