NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD was searching Thursday for a man who they suspect spat on a Jewish boy in a hate crime in Brooklyn last week.

The 14-year-old boy was walking at Eastern Parkway and Albany Avenue in Crown Heights at 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 22 when the man rode up from behind on a bicycle, police said.

He spat on the boy, then biked away without saying anything, according to police. He was last seen headed westbound on Eastern Parkway.

The Daily News reported that the boy is the grandson of Devorah Halberstam, whose 16-year-old son Ari Halberstam was fatally shot on the Brooklyn Bridge in an antisemitic terror attack targeting a group of Hasidic students in March 1994.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
