Off-duty rookie cop shoots man in Bronx store during dispute: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The NYPD confirmed that an off-duty officer shot a man in a Bronx business Thursday afternoon after they got into an altercation.

At 3:05 p.m. a 42-year-old man entered a store at 4062 White Plains Road and got into a dispute with an off-duty cop, police said.

During the argument the cop fired at the victim once, striking him in the arm and grazing him in the chest, officials said.

Police said that the 30-year-old officer is a rookie who graduated with the most recent Police Academy class.

The man was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi for his injuries and is likely to survive.

The investigation is ongoing.
