NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An 89-year-old man lost control of his car and struck multiple pedestrians and vehicles in Brooklyn on Wednesday evening, sending five people, including himself, to the hospital, police said.

The driver lost control of his sedan, possibly during a medical episode, around 7:15 p.m. in Bensonhurst, leaving a trail of destruction at 76th Street and 18th Avenue.

According to police, he plowed into a 20-year-old man on a scooter on 76th Street, then struck a car with another 20-year-old man inside before veering into a male pedestrian.

The victims were taken to Maimonides Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver and his female passenger were also taken to the hospital to get checked out.
