NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City has now administered more than one million vaccine doses, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced during his daily briefing on Tuesday.
"We have administered more than ONE MILLION COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Imagine what we could do if we had the supply. We are in a CRISIS. Pharmaceutical companies need to step up, so we can save lives and get our nation back on track."
According to de Blasio, there have been 1,032,158 COVID-19 shots administered to date.
Of that amount, 716,492 were first doses and 222,763 were second shots of the vaccine.
The mayor had hoped to reach that figure last month and blamed drug manufacturers in part for the delay in immunizations,
"We need to see the pharmaceutical companies set up in a way they are not right now," noting there are only two immunizations currently available.
De Blasio also noted that the rolling seven-day average of the city's coronavirus positive-test rate is 8.09 percent.
