NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A man was found dead after being shot in the head in the Bronx on Saturday night, not long before another man died of gunshot wounds he suffered in Brooklyn early Sunday, in two overnight instances of fatal gun violence.
Police responded to a report of a man shot at 690 Allerton Ave., in the Allerton section of the Bronx, at 10:53 p.m. on Saturday night.
Upon arrival, police found 25-year-old Daniel Lachapel with a gunshot wound to his head. Medical personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene, authorities said.
Citizen App footage shows police on the scene placing a white sheet over a man's body outside of 690 Allerton Ave., which police listed as Lachapel's address.
Not even 90 minutes later, police responded to a 911 call of a man shot at 2274 Strauss St. in Brownsville, Brooklyn, and discovered a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest and right leg.
EMS transported the victim to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead an hour later, police said.
The release of the 24-year-old’s identity is pending proper family notification.
Police classified both of these incidents as homicides.
There have been no arrests, and investigations into both shootings are ongoing.
An hour after the 24-year-old was found in Brownsville on Sunday morning, police fatally shot a man armed with a gun in East Flatbush.
