2 students, teacher from NYC schools injured in pair of slashings

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Two students and a teacher from New York City public schools were injured in a pair of slashings on Wednesday, police said.

The first incident happened around 9:45 a.m. in Queens when two teens, 15 and 16, were attacked and slashed on their arms by an unidentified suspect near Newcomers High School in Long Island City on 41st Avenue near 28th Street.

The 16-year-old boy was rushed to Weill Cornell Medicine and is currently in stable condition.

However, the 15-year-old did not want medical assistance, with police reporting him as uncooperative.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the Queens assault. As of the early afternoon, no suspects had been identified or apprehended in connection to the attack.

Later that day in Brooklyn, a teacher was slashed across the chest while trying to break up a fight between two students at the Knowledge and Power Preparatory Academy in Brownsville around 2:45 p.m.

The teacher had minor injuries. The student, 16,  was arrested and the knife was recovered, police said.
