Partial building collapse in Williamsburg rains metal on sidewalk shed; no injuries reported

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A building partially collapse in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon and sent metal crashing down onto the sidewalk shed below, though officials said that there are no reported injuries.

The collapse occurred at 143 Roebling St. between Metropolitan Avenue and Hope Street, authorities said.

The FDNY responded to the scene, found that a portion of the roof had collapsed onto the sidewalk shed and requested the Department of Buildings and New York City Emergency Management, fire authorities said.

DOB inspectors found that a portion of the parapet wall at the roof level of the five-story building had collapsed.

There were no injuries reported to the DOB or FDNY, and operations are ongoing.

The DOB will provide more information when available.
