PATERSON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man and women were arrested for allegedly assaulting a 7-year-old boy several times within the past year, prosecutors said Thursday.
Davon Burton, 26, and Demetries Page, 24, both of Paterson, face charges including second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree aggravated assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.
The state's Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the prosecutor's office on Sept. 16 expressing "concerns" about the boy, the release said.
Detectives who interviewed the boy and several witnesses found that Burton and Page physically assaulted the child on "several occasions" between September 2020 and September of this year, prosecutors said.
Burton and Page are currently being held at the Passaic County Jail, the release said.
Their attorney information wasn't immediately available Thursday.
