NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 74-year-old pedestrian was beaten by a Brooklyn driver last month for “tapping” with his fingers a car that was about to back into him, and police are searching for the shirtless suspect.

At about 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 18, the 74-year-old was walking down Eighth Avenue near 60th St. in Sunset Park when the driver put his car in reverse and began to drive.

Police said that the victim “tapped” the vehicle in order to indicate he was behind it, which led to an argument between the men. It escalated when the driver got out of the car, punched the 74-year-old in the face and head repeatedly, knocking him to the ground.

The assailant fled the scene in his car, and police released surveillance footage of him that indicates he is a blonde man. He was in no shirt and black shorts at the time of the assault.

The victim was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in stable condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
