NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police have a person in custody after a tourist exploring the Upper West Side was slashed Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The 55-year-old man was walking in front of 114 West 86th St. between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues at about 10:20 a.m. when he was approached by the suspect and slashed in the face, authorities said.
The suspect fled the location in an orange 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, according to the NYPD.
He suffered a minor injury to his ear and cheek, sources said. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding the stabbing were not immediately clear.
An investigation is ongoing.
