NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 19 fake Rolex watches at JFK Airport last week, the agency said Monday.
Officers examining a shipment of watches sent through the airport from Hong Kong on June 15 discovered that they were all counterfeit, CBP said in a press release.
If the watches had been sold under the guise of authenticity, they would have netted around $285,000, the agency said.
“Every day CBP officers and import specialists protect the American public and its economy,” Marty Raybon, the acting director of the agency’s New York Field Office, said in a statement.
“This most recent interception of counterfeit watches demonstrates the ongoing vigilance and commitment to our agency’s mission by our CBP officers and import specialists,” Raybon added.
