NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Friday night released photos of four suspects wanted in connection to a mass shooting outside of a Queens club on Wednesday that injured 10 teens.
The four unidentified men are accused of firing their weapons into a crowd gathered outside the Amazura Concert Hall in Jamaica at around 11:18 p.m. Officials said the alleged gunmen fled westbound on 91st Street toward 143 Place before continuing on in a white sedan with an out-of-state license plate.
A 16-year-old boy, 17-year-old girl, three 18-year-old women and five 19-year-olds—two men and three women—were standing in line outside the at-capacity club when they were struck.
All the victims were hit in non-vital areas like the buttocks and legs, and they were transported to local hospitals in stable condition.
“Three to four males opened fire over 30 times in the direction of the group standing outside the event space, striking multiple victims,” NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said at a press conference after the shooting.
Police said that up to 15 people were waiting to gain entry to a birthday and memorial party organized by the mother of 16-year-old Taearion Mungo, who was shot and killed last year. She had invited 120 people, but the venue would only allow 90 people entry, leading to the line outside.
A motive for the shooting is still under investigation, though police said the mass shooting was not an act of terrorism. The city has been on high alert since the deadly New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans that killed 15.
