NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — There is some good news for the slowest and least reliable MTA bus service in the city: except for one line, they're all faster and more reliable.

The M102 bus has come out on top as the slowest bus in the city, winning the dreaded "Pokey" award.

Some riders of the Harlem to East Village route agree.

"Train is definitely faster if you can tolerate the heat," one woman said.

Another said "it serves" her when she's not in a rush.

After the M102, the next slowest routes are the Bx19 line between New York Botanical Garden and Riverbank Park; the B35 line between Brownsville and Sunset Park; the Q32 between Jackson Heights, Queens, and Penn Station; and the S48 line between St. George and Mariners Harbor, according to analysis by The Straphangers Campaign.

All but one of the five buses, one in each borough, improved their speed since the award was last bestowed in 2019 — that was the Q32 bus.

As for the most unreliable, the B12 between Lefferts Gardens and East New York is the "Schleppie" winner, then the Bx3 between Riverdale, the Bronx and Washington Heights, and the Q58 between Ridgewood and Flushing.

The M100 between Inwood and East Harlem and the S78 between Bricktown Mall and St. George Ferry Terminal finish out the top five.

The Straphangers Campaign said that service has improved as a result of the MTA and the NYC Department of Transportation's reforms.
