NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police are investigating a shooting and a stabbing that are unrelated but occurred nearby one another in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx on Friday night, authorities said.

At 6:45 p.m. outside of a smoke shop on East 149th Street and Prospect Avenue, bullets were fired off toward two men, either of which could have been the target.

According to surveillance video obtained by ABC7, two men were exiting the smoke shop when they began to duck and run.

The business was shot, and a third man passing by, 68, was struck once in the arm, officials said.

In the surveillance video, the victim can be seen clutching his side before running off. ABC7 reported that he went into the nearby Dunkin’ for cover and help.

A Dunkin’ employee who witnessed the event told ABC7 that they heard three gunshots.

The victim was taken to Lincoln Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

The suspect fled the scene, and the police investigation is ongoing.

In an unrelated but nearby attack, a 13-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were stabbed at a Checkers located at 149th Street and Third Avenue, officials said.

The stabbing occurred less than an hour after the shooting, police said.

The 13-year-old was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition.

The 16-year-old – who was stabbed in the stomach – was found at a local hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
