NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police are investigating the death of a newborn at a Queens home on Wednesday morning.

It’s currently unknown if any criminality was involved in the death of the child, who was less than a month old, sources said.

The FDNY said it responded shortly before 7:15 a.m. to an emergency call from a home on 237th Street, near Braddock Avenue, in Bellerose.

The mother told police she fed the child in the morning and then put the baby back in the crib, sources said.

When she returned about 10 minutes later, she noticed there was a problem and called 911, according to sources.

The child was rushed to Cohen Children's Medical Center but couldn’t be saved.

No arrests have been reported as the investigation continues.
