NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police are searching for a Brooklyn filmmaker who was last seen leaving his residence over 10 days ago, authorities said.
Ross McDonell, 44, left his Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment at Taaffe Place and Dekalb Avenue on bicycle at 8:23 p.m. on Nov. 4, police said.
The bike was later recovered by police at Fort Tilden Beach in Queens, officials confirmed.
NBC 4 New York spoke with some of McDonnell’s friends who found clothes belonging to him on the beach. They believe he may have went swimming that evening, which they said was normal behavior.
"We are deeply, deeply concerned. The mystery of it is takes an emotional toll,” Gene Gallerano, one of McDonnell’s friends, told NBC 4 New York. “It's very confusing and painful to not have any kind of answers for what happened."
McDonnell is a filmmaker and photographer from Dublin, Ireland. He works between disciplines as a director, cinematographer and producer, and is known for projects like Showtime’s ‘The Trade,’ for which he won an Emmy Award for cinematography.
He was last seen wearing a black shirt, red vest and dark pants while carrying a black backpack, officials said.
