NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a man and a woman who bashed a 58-year-old man in the head with a hammer as they tried to rob his Washington Heights home.

The two suspects broke into an apartment near West 181st Street and Audubon Avenue on March 31 around 3:30 a.m.
One of the suspects then struck the owner of the apartment in the head with the hammer when they made it inside.
The two thieves fled after fighting with the man. One ran up to the roof while the second moved southbound on Audubon Avenue.
EMS rushed the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition.
