NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD is searching for a man who snuck out of a Manhattan hospital on Saturday morning after being placed in police custody, authorities said.
Police said that the man, identified as 23-year-old Christopher Miller, was being treated at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue when officers realized that he had an active summons warrant for a traffic violation. At that point, he was placed in police custody.
Sources said that the man was being treated for a stabbing.
At about 3:50 a.m., officials said that the escapee snuck out the hospital door near East 28th Street and FDR Drive after officers left his room.
Miller, of Manhattan, left the hospital wearing a gray sweat suit and no shoes while carrying a cane, police said. The wanted man is 5'6" and about 160 pounds with black hair.
