NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Hundreds of people protested in Lower Manhattan on Thursday evening as part of nationwide “Good Trouble Lives On” protests that paid tribute to civil rights icon John Lewis, who used the “good trouble” mantra in his social activism.

The protesters marched from Foley Square to Federal Plaza, where flowers were placed in memory of people taken into ICE custody as part of President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

Among those in attendance was Raiza, the mother of a Bronx public high school student, Dylan, who was detained by ICE in May as they were leaving immigration court.

“It’s been two months since my son was kidnapped right in front of our eyes,” she said in Spanish. “Through it all, I still have faith that God will bring forth justice.”

Civil rights activist Kirsten John Foy said “hate, bigotry and segregation has resurrected itself” but “we will fight until we reclaim our country.”

The protest was spirited but peaceful. Police said officers issued summonses to seven people in Foley Square for obstruction of justice and/or disorderly conduct.

NYC immigration arrests are up 31% since Trump took office, with the border czar vowing this month to increase the number even more. “We’re going to be in New York City,” Tom Homan said.
