NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The window of a Greenwich Village restaurant was smashed during a protest Thursday night, leaving a diner injured, police said.

The window was shattered as protesters marched past Carbone on Thompson Street around 8:15 p.m., police told the New York Post.

Police posted a photo of the broken window and said a diner suffered a laceration when it shattered.

The Post reported that the injured person was a woman who was cut on the shoulder as she sat at an outdoor table. She refused medical attention.

"Businesses throughout NYC are still recovering from the past year," the NYPD said in a statement on Twitter. "Purposely causing damage to their business is not helping any cause."

"During tonight's protest in Manhattan, not only was a business damaged, an innocent customer suffered a laceration when the glass shattered during their destruction," the department wrote.

Police said the incident is under investigation.

The demonstrators were part of the Stonewall protest that happens each week outside the iconic bar of the same name, according to the Post.
