NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 54-year-old woman at a Queens car wash was fatally struck Monday afternoon by an employee who had been drinking, police said.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m. at a car wash located on Cross Bay Boulevard and Gold Road in Ozone Park, according to officials.
Police said 43-year-old Edwin Vargas, 43, was leaving the car wash when he hit the 54-year-old-woman who was a customer, with his vehicle.
The victim was rushed to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Vargas was driving a Jeep Liberty also struck a parked car before stopping and was taken into police custody at the scene, authorities said.
An NYPD spokesperson on Tuesday said he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.115 percent.
Vargas faces charges including vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault, DWI, and DWAI, police said.
An investigating is ongoing.
