Tesla driver crashes into Queens garage, critically injuring passenger

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A driver lost control of a Tesla in Queens on Monday evening, plowing into a garage in a crash that left his passenger critically injured, police said.

The 71-year-old man was trying to park the e-vehicle in a garage near 192nd Street and 46th Avenue in Auburndale around 6:25 p.m. when he lost control of the car.

The Tesla crashed into a detached garage.

A 42-year-old woman in the front passenger seat suffered significant head and neck trauma in the collision, police said.

She was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

Police are investigating the crash, but they said no criminality is suspected.
