NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a man who critically injured a 60-year-old store owner inside his Queens pawn shop on Monday afternoon.

Authorities said the incident happened just before 1 p.m. inside the shop at 178-22 Jamaica Avenue.


Upon arrival, police observed a 60-year-old man with severe trauma to his head. EMS responded and transported the male to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect entered the location, approached the victim, and assaulted him by striking him in the head multiple times with an unknown object, before fleeing westbound on Jamaica Avenue.

A metal rod was allegedly used in the beating, according to The New York Post.

The suspect is around 5'7" tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a medium build and was last seen wearing a green Adidas baseball hat, a black face mask, a dark blue jacket with a hood, a black backpack, dark green pants and black shoes.
