NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Queens tenant was charged with murder after his landlord was found dead Tuesday afternoon in the home they shared, the NYPD said.
Officers responded to the residence, 32-32 96th St. in East Elmhurst, at 5:13 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving a 911 call reporting an injured person.
Police found Leo Zoraida, 55, unresponsive and with scratches across her face.
EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.
Davi Vidal, 19, was quickly identified as a suspect, arrested and charged with murder.
According to police, the alleged murder occurred after Zoraida and Vidal had a quarrel over back rent.
This murder comes in the wake of a triple-stabbing last month in which a landlord killed two of his tenants and his girlfriend in St. Albans, Queens after not being paid rent.
