NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Costco issued a food recall last week for a mini burrito from its frozen section due to potential listeria contamination.
The recall applies to Red’s Southwestern Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos purchased between Oct. 1 and Oct. 10, 2024, which were recalled due to potential listeria contamination from their chicken supplier, BrucePac.
Out of an abundance of caution, Red’s initiated a voluntary recall on certain packages of the burrito. No illnesses have been reported so far.
“While we have a certificate of analysis for each load of product received with a negative listeria test result, consumers who purchased potentially impacted products have been contacted to return the product for a full refund,” Red’s statement read. “We’re thankful that there are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of any BrucePac products.”
Affected packages of Red’s Southwestern Grilled Chicken Mini Burritos are limited to those with Best By Dates of March 27, 2026, April 1, 2026, April 2, 2026, and April 7, 2026.
“Do not eat the product; please return it to Costco for a refund,” Costco wrote in an email sent to customers who purchased the product.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), listeria is most likely to harm pregnant people, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. While other individuals can also be infected, serious illness is rare in these groups.
Customers can contact Red’s All Natural service line at 888-522-9408 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. if they have additional questions.
