NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The final credits will be rolling at a popular Manhattan movie theater.
Cineworld, the parent company of Regal Cinemas, has announced the closure of 39 more movie theaters across the country, including the Union Square Stadium 14 on 13th Street and Broadway.
The closure comes four months after Cineworld filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on the film and movie theater industries, according to CNN.
The theater, which opened in 1998 and is often a fan favorite for many New York City movie buffs, recently underwent a major renovation in 2020.
It wasn't immediately clear when the theater, which features 17 screens, would close.
Five more Regal theaters will close in New York, while the movie theater chain will close locations in Phillipsburg and Mays Landing in New Jersey.
