NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Rep. Jamaal Bowman's mother died from COVID-19 this week, the freshman congressman announced Tuesday.
Pauline Bowman died on Sunday, Bowman said on Twitter.
It is with deep sorrow that I share the passing of our mother, Ms. Pauline Bowman. She battled Covid for many weeks before transitioning on Valentine's Day.

"It is with deep sorrow that I share the passing of our mother, Ms. Pauline Bowman," the congressman tweeted. "She battled Covid for many weeks before transitioning on Valentine's Day."
"Our mother raised us to live our lives with love and joy with and for each other. I share her legacy with all of you," he wrote.
Bowman beat longtime Rep. Eliot Engel in the 2020 Democratic primary and now represents New York's 16th congressional district, which includes parts of the Bronx and Westchester.
