NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Returning to the office early this coming fall is becoming less and less prevalent across New York City.
A survey released Wednesday by the Partnership for New York City says just 23% of Manhattan office workers are back in the office right now. That number sat at just 12% in May.
An expected 41% of office workers are due back by Sept. 30, a massive drop from estimates taken in May, which projected 62%.
By the new year, 76% of office employees are expected back, the survey found.
Among businesses that decided to curb their return plans due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, nearly half said the delay will be a month or less, but 28% said it’ll be evaluated over time.
With a new workplace environment on the horizon for some, the survey found that 70% of employers will go to a “hybrid” schedule, while 26% will mandate workers being in-person full time.
In terms of getting vaccinated, nearly 60% of employers say they’ll mandate the COVID-19 shot.
When those surveyed were asked for an estimate in vaccination rate among those on their payroll in New York City, the number that the Partnership came to was 81%.
A whopping 94% of those surveyed support New York City’s mandate on vaccines for indoor dining, fitness or entertainment.

Nearly 76% of adults in New York City have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest figures.
